It seems a new way of trying to scam people out of their money pops up almost daily. The McLoud Public Library is providing some tools to combat that challenge with its program “Avoiding Financial Scams,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, in the Milburn Room of the library, 133 N. Main St.

A Tinker Federal Credit Union Financial Educator will provide tips on recognizing scams, from text messages to tactics using social engineering. Attendees will learn how to develop strategies to protect themselves and loved ones from financial harm.

Either teens or adults may participate in the program. Space is limited, so advance registration is required to attend.
