A Sunday night motorcycle accident near Dale claimed the life of a Chandler man.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident occurred late Sunday night on State Highway 270, just west of Old State Highway 270 near Dale in Pottawatomie County.
Jerry L. Tubbs, 41, Chandler, died from injuries suffered in that crash, the patrol said.
Tubbs was driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle that was involved in a crash with a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Amanda M. Harvey, 35, McLoud, the OHP said. What happened is still under investigation by the patrol.
After the crash, Tubbs went by REACT EMS to SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital Shawnee, where he was pronounced dead by the Emergency Room staff with head, trunk internal and external arm and leg injuries, the report shows.
Harvey and her adult passenger, Jonathan M. Shelby, 31, McLoud, were not injured, but there were several juvenile passengers in the vehicle. A 10-year-old was transported by REACT EMS to OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City and admitted in good condition with trunk and arm injuries, the OHP said.
A 2-year-old child was not injured, the patrol said, while a 7-year-old also was transported by REACT EMS to OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, where the child was treated for head injuries and released.
Cause of the collision is pending investigation.
The OHP said seat belts and child safety restraints were in use. The crash was investigated by Trooper Tyson Wright of the Pottawatomie County Detachment of Troop A and he was assisted by Lt. Chris Liles of Troop A, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, Kickapoo Tribal Police Department, as well as the McLoud Police and Fire Department.
