On Thursday, July 11, an automobile accident resulted in a pedestrian fatality in Seminole County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of the vehicle swerved, but was unable to avoid the collision.

At approximately 3:53 p.m., an accident occurred on U.S. 377, just northeast of Konawa.

A southbound 1996 Chevy pickup truck driven by Bryan Kelley, 43, Ada, encountered a pedestrian walking on the southbound shoulder.

The pedestrian, now known to be Jimmy Frank, a 44-year-old Konawa resident, was walking southbound on the shoulder and reportedly walked into the roadway as the vehicle approached, the OHP report shows.

The Chevy swerved to the left but was unable to avoid Frank, striking him, the patrol said.

Cause of the accident was listed as pedestrian action, the patrol noted, and Kelley was not injured.

Frank was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported from the location by Swearingen Funeral Home.

Troopers David Brown and Scott Aldridge and Captain Gary Isbell of OHP investigated the scene.
