A detention officer who worked at the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center is now jailed as an inmate in that facility after being charged with bringing drugs and cell phones into the facility for inmates while on duty.

Formal charges have been filed in Pottawatomie County District Court against Braiden Vaj Hardwick, 21.

He faces three felony counts — bringing contraband into a jail/penal institution, unlawful possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute and jail employee receiving compensation from inmates.

He is accused, on our about July 4, of bringing three cell phones, several packages of smokeless tobacco and methamphetamine in for prisoners.

Hardwick is also accused of possessing methamphetamine and receiving compensation for providing goods to inmates.

Hardwick remains jailed and his next court date is scheduled July 22.
