A Shawnee resident is in critical condition after flipping his car on Lake Road two miles south of Bethel Acres in Pottawatomie County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Colin Meiler was transported by REACT EMS to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City with head and spine injuries after flipping his car and crashing into a steel pole fence about 6:08 p.m. Tuesday, August 6.
In his report, Trooper Joe Porter said Meiler was driving in his 2002 Ford F150 eastbound on Lake Road at an unsafe speed when he departed the road to the right.
Porter said the vehicle overturned one and a half times before coming to a stop on its top against a utility pole and steel pole fence. Meiler was ejected 10 feet from his car, Porter said.
According to the OU Medical Center Nurse Supervisor, Meiler was still in critical condition Wednesday night.
The report shows Meiler was not wearing his seatbelt, air bags deployed and the roadway was dry and clear Porter said.
