Since the area is zoned residential and with the city's new Comprehensive Plan nearly complete, Shawnee planning commissioners opted to defer the item until the Comp Plan can be approved. Particular changes marked in the Comp Plan may more accurately address the request and how the city intends to approach similar matters in the future. Since the item was deferred, Wednesday's public hearing was delayed; anyone wishing to make a statement about the issue will have to attend the new hearing date when the matter comes back to the board.
