DALE — Patch Hamilton clubbed a 2-run home run and Trevor Martin fanned 14 batters Thursday, propelling Asher to a 4-1 triumph over Varnum at the Dale Tournament.

Martin (1-1) permitted just three hits and walked three.

Hamilton’s HR came in the first inning after Jake Dobbs scored on a fielder’s choice by Martin.

In the second inning, Bryce Martin led off with a drag-bunt single and later scored on a Garrett Leba single.

Varnum’s only run came in the sixth inning.

Asher didn’t commit an error.

Martin threw 112 pitches, 73 of which were strikes.
