Halloween is almost here, and the Shawnee Public Library is getting an early start on the frightening festivities with a pair of Fall Break activities scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.

At 11 a.m., tweens are invited to solve “The Chocolaty Case of the Costume Conspiracy.” There’s been a crime committed during a costume party, and a double chocolaty-chocolate chip cake is missing. Participants will play the role of sleuth and try to solve the mystery.

At 1 p.m., Halloween fans of all ages are invited to a Spooky Movie Matinee. The showing will be G-rated and will include concession treats for attendees.

No advance registration is required for either of the programs.
