As Prague’s Adisyn Auld barreled into Tishomingo’s shortstop on a first-inning double-steal, her face-guard was jammed hard against her mouth and two teeth were knocked out.

Unfortunately for Prague, Auld’s misfortune wasn’t made much better by the final result, a 9-1 Tishomingo victory in the semifinals of the Class 3A fast-pitch state tournament at the Ballfields at FireLake.

After Beth Denney singled and eventually scored from third on Auld’s steal, Tishomingo junior pitcher Grace Anderson was in complete control. Anderson permitted just one more hit, a 2-out Tessa Cooper single in the fifth, and piled up 14 strikeouts. She registered three strikeouts in the first, second, third and seventh innings.

“She moved the ball around good,” Prague coach Dailyn King said. “Her off-speed pitch kept us on our toes and she really hit her spots.

“This has been a tough team which takes instructions well.”

Earlier in the season, shortstop Josi Goodman had several teeth knocked out during a game.

The Red Devils ended the season at 26-7, including an 11-1 district mark with the sole loss to Newkirk.

The Red Devils lose nine seniors. “You never wanted this season to end because of the way these kids are. They are just so great to work with,” King said.
