October is here and the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art is excited to announce that they will be offering Theater for Kids ages 7-12 beginning Thursday October 24th with Emily Coley! The MGMoA encourages parents to register their young actors for this amazing class that will introduce them to theater, while working with peers. The classes will all take place at the MGMoA with a theater like performance as their finale to showcase what they have learned.
In this Theater Class students will be introduced to basic acting skills and theatre production. Students will participate in a variety of acting games and exercises that inspire creativity and learn about theater terminology. Emily Coley has taught previously for the MGMoA with other students interested in theater. Coley has taught students from young children to adults and has even choreographed dance and theater productions over her career.
Theater for Kids ages 7-12 will begin Thursday, October 24th from 5:00pm–6:30pm and will meet these Thursdays; November 7th, 14th, 21st, and December 5th (No Classes October 31st & November 28th because of those being Holidays). Thursday, December 12th 5:00pm – 6:30pm will be the performance where all student participation is required. There will also be a gallery reception afterward for the art students.
After-School Art Classes are held at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art at 1900 W. MacArthur, Shawnee, on OBU’s Green Campus. Tuition is $80 per student, per class and scholarships are available for students who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year. All supplies are included.
