This month is National Domestic Violence Awareness month and Citizen Potawatomi Nation's (CPN) House of Hope is doing many things to get the word out to the community.

At Friday night's SEFF Block Party on Main Street, in downtown Shawnee, House of Hope is placing chalk art along sidewalks to bring awareness to the community about the issue of domestic violence.

“We are also doing a selfie contest until Oct. 28, asking the community to post selfies with something purple and tag CPN House of Hope; also include the hashtag, love does not hurt,” Kayla Woody said. “House of Hope helps anyone dealing with abuse in an intimate partner relationship and provides resources free to the public.”
