SAND SPRINGS – Shawnee High School senior Kyle Henry qualified for the Class 5A State Cross Country Championships Saturday by clocking in with a 5k time of 18:02.27 for ninth place in the 5A East Regional at the Case Community Park course.

The Shawnee boys took ninth as the remaining Shawnee runners included: sophomore Zander Wood (44th place, 19:28.70), freshman Michael Pearne (52nd, 19:39.89), junior Andrew Shepard (58th, 19:52.75), senior Blaine Bennett (78th, 20:46.68), sophomore Eli Wiley (85th, 21:00.30) and sophomore Xanatos Torres (112th, 23:00.46).

The Shawnee girls also claimed ninth in their 5k race as junior Kailey Henry was the Lady Wolves' top finisher in the 26th place at 23:18.45.

Rounding out the SHS competitors were senior Serrenity Rezentes (39th, 24:15.16), junior Kiera Gonzales (51st, 24:24.54), sophomore Shalese Buckner (70th, 26:12.11), sophomore Maggie Watkins (72nd, 26:14.85), junior Ella Swantek (73rd, 26:24.63) and Breeanna Lee (26:26.82).

The state cross country championships will be held at Edmond Santa Fe High School Saturday.
