James Michael Creider passed away Nov. 10, 2019, in his home in Shawnee.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., and funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 14 10 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, Shawnee.
Mike was born May 30, 1947, in Tulsa to James Finney and Norma Marie Campbell Creider. He attended Berryhill, Oklahoma, schools.
Mike served seven years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service on the USS Hammerhead, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Navy Expeditionary Medal. After discharge, he returned to Oklahoma State University, graduating with a journalism degree. He worked for various defense contractors as a technical writer. He enjoyed photography and served as track photographer for several racetracks.
Mike married Margaret Copeland in 2007. He became involved in the First Baptist Church, Allen, Texas, orchestra and McKinney, Texas; Plano, Texas; Allen, Texas; and Frisco, Texas, community bands. He started writing music. After moving to Shawnee, Mike played in the Immanuel Baptist Church orchestra. He attended music classes and private lessons at Oklahoma Baptist University to learn more about writing music.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, Shawnee, daughter Alyson Creider and Justin, Richardson, Texas, son Brett Creider and Victoria, Dallas, Texas, stepson Tito Schwabe and Jenn, Northville, Michigan, stepson Joe Schwabe Shawnee, grandchildren Jayden White and Tamya Schwabe, sister Connie and Hollis Morris, Prague, brother Bob and Teena Creider, Tulsa, plus numerous extended family members.
