As warmer temperatures and gusty winds brought a high fire danger Tuesday, fire crews from around the area have been battling reported grass fires.

Fires have been reported in the McLoud area north of Interstate 40, as well as the Earlsboro area, along with several areas in Lincoln County, including a fire near Sparks reportedly caused by a downed power line that impacted power in that area, according to fire reports.

OG&E's System Watch reports nearly 10,000 without power statewide around 7:45 p.m., with nearly 400 of those in the Chandler area.

Just before 8 p.m., Lincoln County Emergency Management reported law enforcement officials were making rounds door to door making contact with those who need to consider being ready to evacuate.

At that time, the impacted area was reported as being WEST of Highway 18 and between Highway 18B and 990 Road. By 9 p.m., emergency management was reporting crews were mostly dousing hots spots in that area.
