HOLDENVILLE — Freshman Hollie Ladd, playing in her first varsity game, collected 18 points as Seminole held off Holdenville 57-55 in a season opener Tuesday night.

Katyanna Andrews added 16 points for Seminole, which prevailed despite hitting just 22 of 50 foul shots for 44 %.

Makayla Harge, Kaylyn Coker and Ladd all fouled out in the fourth quarter for the Lady Chieftains. Seminole led by seven points with just over a minute left.

“We survived,” said Seminole coach Charles Kemp. “It’s a good win because it’s hard playing over here.”

Harge finished with eight points.

Boys

Cepado Wilkins provided 17 points and Hunter Wurtz came through with 10 as Seminole drubbed Holdenville 58-32.

Wilkins and Easton Wurtz knocked down two 3-point shots apiece. Wurtz finished with six points.

Seminole, up just 13-10 after one quarter, expanded its lead to 31-16 by the intermission.

Seminole will be home Friday night opposite Wewoka.
