EARLSBORO—The Macomb Lady Hornets and Hornets were swatted, Tuesday night, by the Earlsboro basketball squads. The Lady Wildcats handed Macomb a 63-22 loss, before the Wildcats handled the Hornets 58-35.
In the boy’s game, it was anybody’s contest to win after the first half, but a third quarter blitz by Earlsboro ended all doubts. Earlsboro outscored the Hornets 18-3 in the quarter and took a 49-24 lead into the fourth.
The first quarter was tight, until the 1:09 mark, when Wildcat Elijah Maher hit back-to-back treys to give Earlsboro a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter.
The two squads played even in the second with Earlsboro besting the Hornets by a bucket and took a 31-21 lead into the half.
The third quarter then belonged to Earlsboro and Brady Sheets. Sheets scored seven of his game-high 20 points in the third.
Sheets was the only Wildcat in double figure scoring. Maher finished with eight points off of the bench and Micah Anderson finished with seven.
The Hornets did not have any scorers reach double figures, but were led by Brett Barry’s eight-point effort. Alex Barry and Blaine Cope each scored seven for Macomb.
The girl’s game got out of control for the Lady Hornets, quickly. Earlsboro built a 28-2 lead after the first quarter and Macomb’s bucket came with just three ticks left on the first quarter clock.
The Lady Wildcats increased the lead in the second quarter and took a 38-9 lead into intermission.
Ealrsboro’s Mariana Siqueiros did most of the early damage for the Lady Wildcats. Siqueiros scored ten of her team-high 14 points in the first quarter of play.
Macomb’s Mariah Carolina led all scorer’s with 16 points on the night. She hit three bombs in the process.
Earlsboro’s Lacy Haynes and Anesah Lindsey each scored nine points for the Lady Wildcats. Abbey McCarroll, Alexxis Coon and Tahnya Kennedy each chipped in six points for Earlsboro.
The Macomb squads will play host to Butner and Earlsboro will welcome North Rock Creek on Friday night.
