The Shawnee High School wrestling squad, fresh off a 49-27 dual victory over Norman Tuesday, is at home again tonight as the Wolves entertain Piedmont at the SHS Performing Arts and Athletic Center.

It will be military appreciation night as the varsity dual is set to begin at 7 p.m. or shortly after.

Coach Nik Turner's Wolves are 3-1 in duals this season after the win over the Tigers. It was incorrectly reported in Wednesday's edition of the the News-Star that they were 1-1).

After a season-opening dual loss to Mustang, Shawnee has won three straight duals with wins over Ada and Carl Albert prior to Tuesday's dual triumph over Norman.

The dual victory over the Tigers was keyed by six falls – one each from Christien Taylor (113 pounds), Jordan Lomeli (132), Jose Cervantes (138), Johnny Taber (152), Kyle Helie (182) and Logan Cash (195).

Angelo Reyes won by a major decision at 126 and Spencer Rochelle had a come-from behind 11-9 decision at 145 which helped fuel the momentum toward the dual victory.

Area basketball games on tap for tonight, Friday

A few area basketball teams are in action tonight as the Macomb visits Maud while Chandler is set to host Jones.

Friday's high school action will have the Shawnee Lady Wolves and Wolves at home for the first time this season against Ada. Other area play on Friday includes Dale at Christian Heritage, McLoud hosting Stroud and Seminole visiting Wewoka.

OBU home for final non-conference games

The Oklahoma Baptist University Lady Bison and Bison play their final non-conference basketball games of the 2019-20 season against Central Christian tonight.

The women's game tips off at 5 p.m. with men's action to follow at 7 p.m.

After tonight's games and the holiday break, the Lady Bison and Bison resume play on Jan. 2 at Henderson State University for Great American Conference action.
