DUNCAN – Three Shawnee players reached double figures as the Class 5A 15th-ranked Lady Wolves jumped on Western Heights early and often in claiming a 55-18 victory Thursday afternoon in the first round round of the Duncan Invitational Tournament.

Esabelle Ramirez, behind nine second-quarter points, led the way for Shawnee with 13 points. Alesia Thomas knocked down her team's only trey in finishing with 12 points and Kailey Henry tallied seven first-quarter points on the way to 11 as the Lady Wolves improved to 4-2 on the season.

The win advances Shawnee to tonight's 7 p.m. semifinal clash against the winner of host Duncan against Santa Fe South.

Aubrie Megehee chipped in eight points to the Lady Wolves' attack. Alycia Edwards followed with four points, Amaya Martinez had three and Tatum Sparks and Tristyn Napier rounded out the Shawnee scoring with two apiece.

The Lady Wolves were 8-of-13 from the free-throw line for the game while the Jets were only 5-of-10.

Paris Davis paced Western Heights with seven points and Autumn Gray added five, including her team's only 3-point basket.

Shawnee set the tone early with a 14-5 first quarter with half of the Lady Wolves' points coming from Henry. Then in the second quarter, Shawnee blitzed the Jets with a 21-2 run, with nine coming from Ramirez, in taking a 35-7 lead into the halftime locker room.

A 12-5 third quarter inflated the Lady Wolves' advantage to 47-12 heading into the fourth.

The finals for the tournament is set for Saturday and then the Lady Wolves visit Ada for a return game on Jan. 3.
