Robbie Sue Preston Rowell, longtime Shawnee resident, passed away Jan. 4, 2020.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1934, in a log cabin in Cromwell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Nora (Callahan) and Harry Preston.
Robbie went on to graduate from Excelsior School in Okfuskee County where she was the salutatorian of her class.
After graduation she married Omer Osburn, who later passed away, and then in 1967 she was married to Harold Rowell.
During her life, Robbie spent time as a stay-at-home wife before she went to work in health care. She then spent several years working at the Coco-Cola bottling plant and finally retired in 1997 after working at the Dollar General Store.
Robbie attended Immanuel Baptist Church here in Shawnee and very much enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and four siblings; Carlos, Leona, Velma and Dorothy Preston.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter TaJuana Brooks and her husband Tom, her sons; Tom Rowell and his wife Gordona and Harold Rowell, four grandchildren; Michael Brooks, Kathryn Brooks Woodward and her husband Donnie, Emily Rowell and Lauren Rowell and one great-granddaughter James Elisabeth Woodard.
A memorial service to celebrate Robbie’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, in the Youth Worship Center at Immanuel Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission Pre-Born (https://preborn.org/) or a charity of your choice.
Honoring Robbie’s wishes, there will be no viewing at the funeral home.
