MIDWEST CITY – The Class 5A third-ranked Carl Albert Titans converted 8-of-10 shots from the floor in the fourth quarter and shot 63.6% from the field for the game in claiming a 74-59 victory over the fifth-ranked Shawnee Wolves Tuesday night.

Earlier Tuesday, Carl Albert’s Kennedy Cofer hit a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer as the fourth-ranked Lady Titans knocked off the hard-luck Lady Wolves, 41-39.

James Locke poured in 25 points and Roderick Hopkins tallied 19 as the pair combined for 17-of-25 shooting from the floor and eight made 3-pointers for the victorious Titans.

Locke was 10-of-15 with five treys and Hopkins finished 7-of-10 with three 3-pointers.

Jaden Harrell also added 13 points while going perfect from the field (4-of-4) and the free-throw line (5-of-5). Antonio Watson chipped in eight points off the bench in going 3-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the line (both free shots off conventional 3-point plays).

The loss overshadowed a magnificent performance from Shawnee sophomore Jaylon Orange, who fired in a game-high 26 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field with a whopping six 3-pointers.

The only other Wolves’ player to get into double figures was Karran Evans, off the bench, with 11 as he was 4-of-6 from the floor with one trey and drained both of his free shots.

Tanner Morris, with two 3-pointers, and Isaiah Willis each tallied seven points for Shawnee and J’Briell Easley ended up with six on 3-of-4 shooting.

The Wolves shot 51.3% from the field for the game and were an efficient 12-of-15 from the charity stripe on the night. Carl Albert was 10-of-11 from the line.

The Titans out-rebounded Shawnee, 21-14, and the Wolves committed two more turnovers than Carl Albert, 13-11.

Cofer’s game-winning shot, her only field goal of the game, rolled around the rim and dropped in as the buzzer sounded.

The Lady Wolves trailed 32-28 heading into the fourth quarter and were down by as many as six twice, but kept battling.

Behind by a 39-35 count, Shawnee’s Aubrie Megehee scored off a put-back shot with 53 seconds to go, trimming the deficit to 39-37. Then with 34 seconds remaining, Alycia Edwards fed Esabelle Ramirez on the post as she scored to tie it up at 39.

But Cofer broke the Lady Wolves’ heart with her buzzer-beater as she finished the game with five points.

Kamryn Sutton paced the Lady Titans off the bench with 11 points. Teammate T.C. Taylor tacked on six points and six rebounds. Two others had five besides Cofer.

Megehee and Ramirez each tossed in 13 points for Shawnee as Megehee was 6-of-13 from the floor while Ramirez was 5-of-9 to go with a game-leading nine rebounds.

Amaya Martinez chipped in six points off the bench to go with five boards and a pair of steals.

The Lady Wolves were plagued by 23 turnovers to Carl Albert’s 17.

Shawnee did own a 33-20 rebounding advantage and did shoot just under 50% (it was 46.9% to be exact). Edwards and Alesia Thomas each nailed a trey for the Lady Wolves’ only long-range buckets on the night.

Both Shawnee squads will try to get back on the winning track Friday as they pay a visit to Piedmont.
