The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding an alleged kidnapping Thursday, Feb. 13, but after investigating, they discovered it was a runaway case.

According to Sheriff Mike Booth, the mother of female minor called police after she witnessed her daughter enter a gray van driven by an hispanic woman she did not recognize.

Booth said officers investigated the mobile home and mobile home park the girl and mother live in off Farrall, which is just outside the city limits. After reviewing footage and looking at evidence in the home, they determined the girl wasn't kidnapped and was a runaway.

Booth said they tracked the girl to a house in Edmond, and although she tried to run, he said, deputies and Edmond police were able to return her to safety.
