Thirteen Shawnee High School wrestlers will take aim at Class 5A state tournament berths as they compete in the 5A West Regional at El Reno High School Friday and Saturday.
The 16-team field features eight ranked teams, including the Wolves who are 15th.
Duncan comes in as the highest ranked team at No. 3, followed by Piedmont at No. 5, Lawton MacArthur at No. 6, El Reno at No. 7, Del City at No. 10, Guthrie at No. 11 and Altus at No. 12.
Other schools in the field include Ardmore, Bishop McGuinness, Carl Albert, Lawton Eisenhower, Noble, Santa Fe South, Southeast and Woodward.
The regional tournament will be broken up into four sessions.
Action begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the first round, quarterfinals and consolation first round. The second session starts at 5 p.m. Friday with the championship semifinals and consolation second round.
Then the third session begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the consolation quarterfinals and semifinals. The fourth and final session takes place Saturday at 4 p.m. with the championship finals, consolation finals and fifth and sixth-place matches.
