MOORE — Chandler’s Lady Lions need one more regional victory to advance to a Class 3A area tournament

Behind a pressing defense which forced numerous turnovers, Chandler eliminated Lone Grove 42-20 Friday afternoon at Community Christian.

Chandler (17-9) can earn an area berth at 1:30 Saurday. Chandler will play the winner of Friday’s game between Perry and Blackwell.

Chandler coach Rodney Treat, who utilized all 15 players, received scoring from nine. Sophomore Jaelynn Robertson was the scoring ringleader with 10.

Senior Jaedyn Wayland posted three of Chandler’s seven 3-point field goals and finished with nine points. Presley Martzall recorded two treys en route to eight points.

Tied at 7 after one quarter, Chandler took command with a 15-4 second-quarter, thanks largely to three treys.

“Usually our post players do the scoring but Lone Grove packed it in against them,” Treat said. “Our guards were then able to hit some open shots.”

Lone Grove made just one trey.

One of the few negatives for Chandler was an 11-of-22 free-throw outing.
