Pottawatomie County Commissioners voted Monday to extend the state of emergency and closer of the Pottawatomie County Courthouse and its offices to the public except for limited court functions until Sunday, May 17.
According to District 2 Commissioner Randy Thomas, in the meeting the commissioners also voted to revisit the item in their regular meeting Monday, May 11 and decide what to do after the extension is over.
For the last several weeks the County Courthouse has been closed to the public except for limited court functions and only employees and essential personnel have had access to the building.
Commissioners have conducted their regular meetings via Zoom teleconference and will continue to follow necessary safety guidelines from health organizations.
This is a developing story and will be updated with new information and details as they become available.
