Susan Yvonne Markwell
Tampa, FL - It is with broken hearts that we share that our mother, Susan Yvonne Markwell, of Tampa, Florida, died on December 20, 2020 at the age of 77. We have peace knowing she is pain-free and reunited with God, her loving parents, and family who have passed before her.
She was born on January 14, 1943 to her adoring parents, Zelma and Colonel Elvan Markwell. She spent her childhood and young adulthood surrounded by the love and affection of a huge family in Meeker. She moved to Houston, Texas, where she raised her children and worked in administration in the medical and oil/gas industries. After her retirement in 2007, she relocated to Tampa to be near her daughter. Her kindness and generosity affected all who knew her. She carried on her mother's tradition as the "card lady," sending a minimum of ten cards per week to those whose days she could brighten. She had a passion for politics, history, and the arts. Her creativity was unmatched and she enjoyed writing, painting, and crafting. Her happiest times were moments spent with her treasured grandchildren.
Susan will be loved and missed beyond measure. She is predeceased by her mother, Zelma, and father, Elvan. She is survived by her children: Julie Sutton Salek (Bryan), Sean Edward McGee (Michelle), and Steven Kent Sutton (Robin),. She will be forever missed by her grandchildren, Cassidy Hope, Colton, Scarlette, Seanna, Joseph, Meghan, Darren, Lauren, and Caitlin, and her great grandson, Braxton. Due to an abundance of respect for current health precautions, a funeral is being postponed until it is safe to gather. She will be laid to rest between her loving parents in Meeker, Oklahoma, and a memorial will take place at a later date.
As Mom was a lover of animals big and small, particularly feline friends, we ask that in her honor, you "adopt, not shop" for pets and support Humane Society shelters in anyway you can.
