Larry Lee Piel
Midwest City - Larry Lee Piel (74) of Midwest City, OK died on Thursday, Jan. 14 due to complications from COVID-19.
He was born on Nov 3, 1946 in Yale, OK to Ewalt H and Chloris B (Sargent) Piel. He lived his grade school years in Cushing, OK. In 1959, the family moved to Enid, OK where he graduated from Enid High School.
Larry enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and served one tour in Vietnam. He was transferred to Minot AFB ND where he met and married Linda E Jaeger of Dickinson ND. After his military discharge in 1970, they moved to Midwest City, OK where he worked at Tinker AFB and Linda taught school at St. Philip Neri Catholic School.
He later became a professional truck driver working for many different companies till his retirement from the road in 2018. He saw the entire United States while driving but always called Midwest City and Oklahoma his home. He loved classic country music and was a huge OU fan - BOOMER SOONER!
Larry was preceded in death by both parents and only sister Juhree (Bisel) of Okeene OK.
He is survived by his two sons; Shawn and wife Karen of Fullerton, CA and their daughters Morgan and Vanessa and Cory and wife DeAmber of Tuttle, OK and their daughter Chloe.
Funeral arrangements made by Ford Funeral Home of Midwest City with eventual internment at Ft Sill National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Larry to: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, www.VVMF.org
