Yolanda Louise "Sam" Folks
Yolanda Louise "Sam" Folks went to her heavenly home on Thursday Feb 11 in Shawnee, Ok.
Yolanda was born on October 1, 1948 in Bellflower California to parents Bert and Ann Oldenkamp.
Yolanda (Sam) was raised in Bellflower where she attended school and graduated from Bellflower High School in 1966.
In 1964 while still in high school, she met Bill Folks at the skating rink and the two began dating shortly thereafter. Not long after they began dating, Bill often had trouble remembering exactly how to pronounce her name so he started calling her "Sam". From then on, most everybody knew her as Sam.
After graduating high school, and exactly one week after her 18th birthday, the two were married in October 1966.
They continued living in Bellflower and had their first daughter, Sheila in 1971.
In 1972, they decided to move back to Bill's hometown of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, where the two were members of the Pentecostal Church of God. In 1976 they welcome their second daughter, Janie.
Sam was a stay-home mom and a caretaker most of her life. Babysitting children and being a caretaker was her calling. She was a wonderful mother and "Mammy"to her four grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are: her husband, of 54 years, Bill Folks; her daughters, Sheila (Folks) Farrill and husband, Steve Farrill of Tecumseh; daughter, Janie (Folks) Bolling and husband James Bolling of Shawnee; brother Don Oldenkamp and wife Carol Oldenkamp of Nevada; grandson, Micah Sanchez; granddaughters, Micailah (Sanchez) Crawley, Jacie Hembree and Lily Bolling.
Preceded in death by: her parents, Bert and Ann Oldenkamp and her beloved dog "Buster".
Memorial service will be on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10:00am at the Pentecostal Church of God 201 W. Washington, Tecumseh,Ok
