Mary Ruth Taylor
Chandler - Mary Ruth Taylor of Chandler, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2021, in Chandler at the age of 87.
Mary Ruth (Kay) Taylor was born February 21, 1934 to her parents, Thomas Marion and Mary (Briggs) Kay in Shawnee, OK. On May 26, 1950, at the young age of 16, she joined hands with Marshall Ray Taylor and entered into the bond of holy matrimony. They were blessed with 2 daughters.
They moved to Chandler, OK in 1956 where she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell from 1959 to 1963 and was employed by the 1st National Bank from 1966 to 1978. She worked alongside her husband as secretary in their successful business, Taylor Septic Tank Service, until they retired in 1993. They spent their retirement years first traveling and then working part time for the Corp of Engineers as Gate Attendants at Cookson Bend & Strayhorn State Parks at Lake Tenkiller.
Mary Ruth was raised in a Christian home and gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 8. The first thing she wanted was a Bible so she could read the Word of God. She saved her money and went to the 5 & Dime store where her sister worked to buy a Bible. She didn't quite have enough money but refused to leave the store until her older sister, Armelda gave her the extra change that she needed. Eventually, she became a Sunday school teacher at the Chandler First Assembly of God Church where she was a member and attended faithfully for many years. She loved to study the Bible and she shared her testimony and witnessed to people when she had the opportunity. She loved the Lord!
Mary Ruth is survived by her husband Marshall "Slim" Taylor and two daughters: Kay West and husband Paul of Oklahoma City and Sue Stice and husband Larry of Edmond, OK. They have two grandchildren: Jennifer Stice-Nunn of Chandler and Jeffrey Stice and wife Sarah & family of Edmond, OK. Great grandchildren include Laryssa Nunn and Nate Nunn of Chandler.
