Christine Denham

Native Oklahoman and longtime local resident Christine Robinson Denham 90 died May 24th 2021. The youngest of six children she grew up in Oklahoma City where she graduated from Northwest Classen in 1949. While in high school she was a soprano in the Glee Club and worked at the local T G & Y. She was proud of the fact that she had been their highest grossing salesperson company-wide. She continued working there after high school and with a group of friends met her future husband Al Denham who was working locally. They married in 1950 and over the next nine years had five children. Chris led her family with humor and laughter and created a happy environment for the the kids and their friends. At different times she was both a cub scout leader and a campfire girls leader. At the age of 29 she learned to drive and there was no turning back. With all her children still at home she enrolled

in Oklahoma Baptist University,finished in 5 years and was on the Dean's List. Graduating in 1971 with a teaching certificate with an English minor with a voice music Major. She taught briefly but her course load was mostly English and she preferred music. She gave private voice lessons and became a director of music at various churches. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Shawnee where she sang in the choir. She had also been a choir member at the Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. In midlife she dealt with real estate, read, developed her oil painting skills, and further enhanced her gift for gab, a talent she handed down to at least one of her children. She was a most fabulous person and mother, fun to be with, to listen to and above all a very interesting human being. She found no obstacles, only challenges which she met with gusto. She did not squander

the talents that she was given. She is survived by four of her five children. Lynda, Phil, Mike, and David also Mike's wife Terri. She has four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Al and her daughter Susie Denham Pagonis. Her nephew Steve Robinson will conduct the service at Hahn Cook, 6600 Broadway Extension Oklahoma City at 2 p.m. on June 1st 2021. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
