Anthony (Tony) Thomas Balan

Anthony (Tony) Thomas Balan, age 55, passed away on May 18, 2021, in his home. Tony was born April 26, 1966 to Dr. T.A. & Marilyn Balan. He was raised in the Shawnee area and graduated from Shawnee High School with the Class of 1984. Tony went on to graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma and began his career in restaurant management. Tony met his wife, Theresa, while working in Norman and they married three years later. The newly married couple moved to Leesburg, Florida and then on to Savannah, Georgia. Tony enjoyed making new friends and traveling, but ultimately decided it was time to move closer to family and returned to Norman, Oklahoma.

Tony loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys play. He enjoyed watching the games with his family and friends. He was also an avid Sooner fan. Everyone who knew Tony, knew of his love of sports, rockets, and fishing. When time allowed, Tony would escape away to the mountains for relaxation. Tony was a sweet, kind soul who loved animals and would give the coat off his back to those in need. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by those that loved him.

Tony was preceded in death by his father Dr. T.A. Balan. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years Theresa, his mother Marilyn of Oklahoma City, his sister Maya Lowder and husband Derek of Oklahoma City, his brother David and wife Kim of Edmond, Oklahoma, and his nephews Parker, Connor, Braden, and Bryce.

A Celebration of Tony's life will be held on Sunday June 6, 2021 from 1-3 PM at River Oaks Golf Club. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to your favorite animal charity.
