Mary “Connie” Houck, 86, of Shawnee, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, in Shawnee.
She was born Dec. 10, 1933, to James Franklin and Rosabelle (Marble) King in Norman.
Connie was raised in the Franklin area East of Norman. She attended grade school at Franklin Public Schools and high school at Norman Public Schools.
She married James L. Houck on May 20, 1950, in Norman. They moved to the Dallas area in the early 1950s and moved back to Oklahoma and settled in the Tecumseh area in 1972 where they made their home.
Connie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed taking care of her home and family. She worked outside the home as a nurse’s aide at Sunset Estates in Tecumseh for many years.
Connie was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved reading, working puzzles and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Houck; parents, James and Rosabelle King; one sister, Anita Hungerford; and two brothers, James King and Jerry King.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, James Houck of Tecumseh; one daughter and one son-in-law, Valinda and Rick Shelton of Tecumseh; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Vernon and Sherrie Houck of Shawnee and Rick Houck of Greensboro, North Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Bud and Alinda King of Houston, Texas; and other extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Mixon officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
