C. Leroy Jones, 79, of Shawnee, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, in Shawnee.
He was born Feb. 2, 1941, to Clayton and Hazel (Simpson) Jones in Chandler.
Leroy attended Shawnee Schools and graduated from Tribbey High School.
He married Sandra Kaye Sliger at her mother’s house on May 4, 1963, in Shawnee. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2001.
Right out of high school he purchased a gas station in Shawnee. He later became a truck driver for T.G. & Y. for several years; then later worked for Stephens Company in sales until they later sold to Save-A-Stop. Leroy later worked in sales as independent wholesale salesman.
He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, rental property, working outdoors and tinkering around.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Kevin Jones; parents; and brother-in-law, Fred Akin.
Survivors include his daughter, Kristi (Jones) Gibson of Shawnee; sister, Colleen Akin of Shawnee; four grandchildren, Kaleigh Coots of Shawnee, Chase Jones of Shawnee and Cailey Gibson of Shawnee and Cierra Gibson of Miami Beach, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Lyla Coots and Maverick Jones; and Stewie, his German Shepherd; and many loving friends and extended family.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, at Cooper Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, at Resthaven Memorial Park, Trinity Chapel in Shawnee with Chaplain Keith Cole, Physicians Choice Hospice, officiating. Please join the celebration of Leroy’s life through Cooper Funeral Home’s Facebook page for live streaming of the service.
