Dale’s offense is good, but their defense is better.

The No. 1 Lady Pirates won 45-20 Saturday night over Central Marlow and six of the Broncos’ 20 points came on three-point shots that ricocheted in off of the backboard.

Dani Manning, Hannah Ash, Claire Chastain and Shelby Savage – the only senior on the Lady Pirates’ squad playing her final home game on Dale's court – make getting the ball down the court difficult for the best guards.

Savage acquired four steals in the game to keep Marlow on their toes while Manning took the ball away three times and dished out five assists to her teammates.

Chastaine acquired four rebounds with two blocks and Ash brought down three rebounds.

Taylor Thompson led Dale with 11 points including three shots from behind the arc.

Savage had eight points, followed by Chastain with 7 and Manning and Ash with six each.

The Lady Pirates led 8-0 before the Broncos even managed a shot attempt. They led 19-10 after one and 27-14 at the half.

The Lady Pirates will take on Healdton at Central Marlow Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Healdton beat Wilson 62-33 to win their district Saturday.
