Gus Hull went 1-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored as Jeffrey Shafer was 3-for-4 with three RBIs Thursday to top Desert View 7-2 for Tecumseh’s first win at the Lancer Baseball Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
Shafer singled to left to bring in Hull and take a 1-0 lead with no outs in the top of the first. Hull singled to second to lead off the inning.
In the sixth Shafer singled to right to score Shafer Jayden and make it a 4-1 game. Hull, hit by a pitch with Jayden on first, was brought home on a single to right from Austin Cooper following Shafer’s dinger to score the Savages’ third run of the inning.
Shafer singled to center in the seventh to score Hull on Tecumseh’s final run of the game.
The Savages took advantage of five errors by Desert View, converting three of them into runs.
Garrett Trammell pitched six innings in a solid performance on the mound. Trammell gave up five hits with two runs, one earned. Colton Muirhead pitched for one inning, striking out one batter.
