Baseball schedule changed

SHAWNEE – With the possibility of poor weather Friday, Oklahoma Baptist has changed its baseball schedule, affecting three home dates.

OBU has moved its three-game set with Northwestern from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday. The Bison will play the Rangers in a 4 p.m. game Saturday and then in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.

OBU has canceled its Monday home game with McPherson.

Rangers bring an 9-16 record and a 6-6 conference record to Bison Field. Thomas Bess is their leading hitter with a .319 batting average.

The 16-6 Bison are coming off of a sweep of Arkansas Tech last weekend and will look to keep the momentum going. The Bison offense is on fire as of late; Ryan Joyce leads the charge with a conference leading eight home runs, four of them coming this weekend alone. Jinny Parra is pitching very well this season, he went all nine in his start this weekend against Arkansas Tech. He leads all starters with a 2.88 earned run average.

Softball at Northwestern pushed back

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist’s softball doubleheaders at Northwestern Oklahoma State have been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday to avoid inclement weather Friday night.

The doubleheaders will begin at 1 p.m. both days.

The Lady Bison are 6-15 on the season despite being the best fielding team in the Great American Conference. Shalee Cordell leads the team with a .338 batting average.

Northwestern is 3-21 on the year and the Rangers are led offensively by Jordan Haya, who is batting .318 with six home runs.
