PRAGUE – Chandler won three games Thursday by one point at the Prague Tournament thanks to some timely hitting at the plate. The Lady Lions took down Bristow 2-1 to open the day and shut down Cleveland and Latta 1-0.
Trailing 1-0 going to the bottom of the fifth, Katie Lane made it to base on an error before being brought home on a fielder's choice from Darbi Duncan to tie up the game. Neleigh Herring singled with bases loaded for a walkoff win after bringing in Duncan.
Lane was given the win, striking out one without a hit or walk in one inning pitched. Kylee Lynch opened the game and pitched four innings, allowing two hits, striking out four and walking three.
Herring scored the game-winning run against Bristow on a groundout from Jayden Solberg in the top of the seventh. Herring came in to close the game in the circle, striking out two of her three batters faced and flying out one for the save. Lane started as pitcher and gave up five hits with six strikeouts for the win.
Herring pitched the complete game against Latta, striking out nine and allowing two hits to move to 9-0 on the season from the circle. She has pitched 45 innings so far this season without allowing a run, struck out 86 and walked seven.
Baleigh Herring hit a walk-off single to plate McCollough with two outs for the win.
The Lady Lions will play Saturday at 4 in their next game of the tournament.
