CARL ALBERT – Kasey Rice led the charge for her third straight meet to help the Shawnee girls varsity cross country team finish sixth as a team at Carl Albert Friday. The Shawnee boys took fifth as a team in their varsity race.

Rice finished with a time of 19:32.8, ahead of Claremore's Katelyn Alexander at 19:35.4, to start the season with three first place finishes in as many races.

The Shawnee girls struggled following Rice's performance.

Mackenzie McDaniel finished with a 22:33.0 for 37th and Summer Johnson came in 40th in a pack of 107 as Shawnee's third fastest finisher, with a time of 22:41.3.

Clifford Littleton led the boys with a time of 17:29.6 for 14th, Brice Koons came in 18th (17:33.7), Kyle Henry 28th (17:49.6) and Colby Chamblin 31st (17:51.2).

The teams get a little bit of a break before racing at Bishop Kelley on Sept. 17.
