DALE — Propelled by Delanie Manning’s 3-hitter, Dale completed a dominating Class 2A fast-pitch regional run by blistering Millwood 11-0 in Friday afternoon’s championship game.
In two victories over Millwood and one win over Watonga, Dale outscored the regional foes 38-0.
Ranked No. 1, Dale will take a 34-3 record into Thursday’s opening round of the state tournament at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
Head coach Andy Powell said Dale will take on Hobart in the opening round, but the game time has yet to be announced. Dale knocked off Hobart in the 2014 fast-pitch title game.
Manning fanned three and didn’t issue a walk in Friday’s 58-pitch performance. The game was stopped on the run rule after 4 ½ innings.
“Delanie doesn’t get a whole lot of strikeouts,” Dale head coach Andy Powell said. “She makes you hit it, and we play pretty good defense.”
Manning is 24-1 on the mound with the 5-0 loss coming to Tecumseh Aug. 23. Dale’s other two losses came to Washington and Newcastle at the Tuttle Tournament.
Dale will prepare for the state tourney with a Monday game against Newcastle. The Lady Pirates have won 23 straight games.
Dale compiled 12 hits against Millwood with leadoff hitter Lacey Hood registering a single, double and triple. Dani Manning posted a double, two singles and two runs batted in. Lauren Hood drove in two runs off a double and single.
Dale recorded nine hits and sent 14 batters to the plate in a nine-run third inning.
The Lady Pirates captured the fast-pitch state championship in 2013 and 2014, and were the 2015 runner-up.
