MUSTANG – The Shawnee volleyball team fought hard, but saw their season come to an end Monday in the opening round of the 5A State Tournament in Mustang.

The Lady Wolves, No. 8 in Class 5A, took on No. 1 Mount St. Mary in their opener to end an impressive season. Shawnee lost the match 3-0 but went down fighting, forcing overtime in two sets of the 26-24, 28-26, 25-17 loss.

The Lady Wolves finished the season 20-12 but finished 9-0 on home court, including a home-hosted regional. The girls missed out on a perfect home season after losing one set to Southeast to complete the season 27-1 in sets on their home court.
