DUNCAN – The Shawnee girls' swim team sailed to a third-straight win this past Thursday at Duncan. The Wolves boys' team finished second.
The Lady Wolves dominated the three relays once again. Brenna Grein, Peyton Wilson, Kylie Catton and Bridgette Longest finished the 200-meter medley relay in 2:20.65. Dottie Lee, along with Longest, Wilson and Catton, easily topped Duncan in the 200 free relay. Lee and Grein joined Leticia Cervantes and Avery Hadley to give the girls the final win of the night in the 400 free relay, finishing more than a minute ahead of Duncan.
The girls swept many of the individual races. Catton and Grein took the top two spots in the 200 free, as did Cervantes and Jordan Fontenot in the 200 individual medley. Sophomore Madeline Motley garnered a win in the 100 butterfly.
Longest and Wilson finished first and second in the 50-meter freestyle, while team members Hadley, Julie Diethrich and Koran Harvey also finished in the top 10.
Cervantes and Fontenot were the top two in the 400 free and Diethrich and Harvey took fourth and fifth. Grein and Longest were first and second in the 100 back with Motley finishing fourth.
Wilson and Lee dominated the 100 breast by taking the top two spots.
The boys' night also showed strong relay performances. Brodie Morris, Hunter Rader, Darren Pennington and Will Gibson sprinted to a win in the 200 ree relay. Dustin Ortiz, Pennington, Rader and Gibson finished second in the 200 medley relay. Ortiz, Brodie Morris, Austin Wiewel and Garret Cheek capped the night with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay.
Morris took first in the 200 free, Gibson and Cheek finished first and second in the 400 free and Wiewel was third in the 100 back.
The Wolves had several top 10 finishes individually, including Kiergan Gibson and Khonner Moody in the 200 free. Pennington, Cheek, Wiewel and Namer Holbert finished top 10 in the 50 free.
Rader, Morris, Ortiz and Silas Jones also earned the team points in the 100 freestyle.
Hunter Etchieson and James Furstenworth of Tecumseh High School had strong individual finishes. Furstenworth won both the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Etchieson took second in both the 50 free and 100 free.
McLoud High School’s Rachel Hubbard won third place in the 50 freestyle and the 100 back.
The Shawnee teams swim again Dec. 3 in the Yukon Invitational.
