OKARCHE — Balanced scoring paid big dividends for Dale Tuesday night in a 51-46 triumph over Okarche.

Brett Cunningham led Dale with 12 points, followed by Cole Seaborn with 11, Aaron Hester with 10 and Drew Reed with 9.

Third-ranked Dale got off to a 10-4 lead after one quarter and held that advantage for all but 30 seconds, that coming in the fourth quarter. Dale stayed composed while improving to 4-0.

Neither squad sparkled from the charity stripe as Dale went 16 of 26 while Okarche was 12 of 28.

Mason Bomhoff led Okarche’s scoring with 13.

Gant Hathcock posted seven rebounds to lead Dale. Teammate Gabe Gouge added six boards.

“They made a run at us in the fourth quarter for a 2-point lead but we showed a lot of character hanging in there,” said Dale coach Jeff Edmonson. “The kids held it together.”

Dale will be home against Bethel Friday night.
