PURCELL — An anemic shooting night was too much for Tecumseh to overcome Tuesday as the Savages dropped a season-opening matchup with Purcell, 51-32.

Daniel Axton led Tecumseh with seven points. Junior Cameron Permetter had six points.

Tecumseh trailed 9-2 after one quarter but was down just 19-15 at the intermssion. Purcell took control with an 18-6 outburst in the third quarter.

The Savages, who had seven players seeing their first varsity action, were just 3 of 16 from beyond the 3-point line. “We just need to get some experience,” said Tecumseh coach Eric Litherland.

Purcell is ranked 13th in Class 3A.

It doesn’t get any easier for Tecumseh Friday night as it entertains Ada.
