OKLAHOMA CITY — The Lady Chieftains of Seminole had some anxious minutes in the fourth quarter before knocking off Harding Prep 57-53 Tuesday night in a 2016-17 season opener.
Seminole led 46-31 after three quarters and by 12 points with three minutes to go before hanging on.
Destiny Tiger and Lindsey Lofton had four 3-point field goals apiece while leading Seminole in scoring with 13 and 12 respectively. Lofton also netted eight assists.
Aubrey Kotchaber added 11 points and seven rebounds for the victors. Freshman Lauren Cheatwood was Seminole’s top rebounder with eight in addition to scoring six points.
Seminole didn’t fare well at the free throw line, hitting 10 of 22 for 45.4 percent. Harding was 20 of 32.
The Lady Chieftains led 28-22 at halftime before outscoring the hosts 18-9 in the third quarter.
Seminole’s Taylor White posted four points before fouling out with two minutes remaining in the third quarter.
Seminole will open its home season Friday night versus Holdenville.
