Top-ranked Lady Pirates fall on road

DEL CITY — Josh Forsythe was displeased with two facets of Dale’s play Tuesday night as his top-ranked girls were upset 52-42 by 22nd-ranked Christian Heritage Academy.

“They played way tougher, bottom line,” Forsythe said. “They also made shots, and we didn’t.”

Dale (19-2) was horrendous from beyond the 3-point line at 2 of 17 for 11.7 percent. By contrast, Christian Heritage hit 55.5 percent (5 of 9) of its 3-point attempts.

“We needed to get the ball inside more. We shot too many 3-pointers,” Forsythe said. “And we needed to be more physical.”

When Dale did take aim from inside, it came in at a respectable 65 percent (13 of 20).

Christian Heritage was 12 of 24 from 2-point range for 50 percent.

Dale held a 34-33 lead after three quarters but was outscored 19-8 over the last eight minutes.

Hannah Ash headed the Dale offense with 20 points. Teammate Dani Manning added 9.

All five of Christian Heritage’s 3-point field goals came in the second half.

Dale’s only other loss this season came at Preston.

The Lady Pirates will try to get back on the winning track Friday night at Bethel.
