VARNUM — Class 4A top-ranked Dale warmed up for a big Tuesday contest by crumbling Varnum 16-0 Monday.

Dale tallied 11 runs in the top of the first inning, then added five more runs in the third. The game was stopped after three innings on the run rule.

Dale (25-2) will entertain Morris, the No. 2 ranked squad in 5A, at 5 p.m. today.

The Lady Pirates banged out 18 hits Monday, including three apiece by London Calvillo and Mikayla Rutland. Calvillo and Rutland notched a double apiece.

Delanie Manning clubbed a three-run home run, her 30th roundtripper of the season, and Dani clubbed a solo shot, No. 21.

Winning pitcher Lacey Hood (25-2) added a double and single while Skyler Thompson posted a double.

Coach Andy Powell’s Dale squad will play two games Thursday as part of the Dale Festival at the FireLake diamonds. Dale will meet Stroud at 1 p.m. and Davis at 2:15.

Dale will end its week Friday at the Hall of Fame Festival in Oklahoma City, opposing Moss at 1 p.m. and Barnsdall at 4.
