MAUD – The Maud Lady Tigers (21-11) won three games in their district tournament Tuesday night to emerge as Class 2A-11 district champions. The Lady Tigers beat Strother 8-7 and New Lima two times, 15-7 and 19-1.
Jada Wright hit a single to center to score Westie Sparks for the walk-off win against Strother to start the day.
Wright went 5-for-5 with a double and drove in two runs in the contest. Jocee Sparks homered, Autumn Harrington brought home two runs and Pyper McGill and Westie Sparks had two hits each.
In their second game of the day, the Lady Tigers dispatched of New Lima 15-7 on 22 hits.
Megan Willis homered and doubled and drove in two runs to go 3-4 in the game. Jocee Sparks went 2-2 with a home run and three RBIs. Pyper McGill and Britni Bailey each went 4-5 and added three runs and one double apiece.
The girls fell behind 1-0 in the first for their final game of the day with New Lima but bounced back with 12 runs in the second and three in the third for an early run-rule.
Wright had a home run and a triple and drove in five runs. Bailey and McGill each went 203 and brought home three runs each and Bailey hit a homer. Jaycee Gamble was 3-3 and Harrington, Willis and Jordan Brewer added two runs apiece.
