OKLAHOMA CITY – The Shawnee boys and girls track teams both took first place in their conference meet Friday at Western Heights.
The girls' 4x800 relay team was the first to take a top spot for the varsity squads with a time of 10:19.78. They also took home the gold in the 4x200 relay (1:46.94) and 4x400 (4:10.62).
Shyra Crowley (15.48) and Madison Converse (15.71) finished first and second in the 100 hurdles and Converse (47.05) and Alexis Ward (48.39) took the top two spots in the 300 hurdles.
Kasey Rice took the top spot in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:27.18 and Mackenzie McDaniel came in third at 2:36.42. The girls shared the same positions for the 1600 with Rice finishing in 5:38.87 and McDaniel in 6:06.25.
The Lady Wolves dominated the pole vault, sweeping the first four of five spots. Haley Wood (11-04), Candida Lucero (10-06), Crowley (10-06) and Kate Wissman (8-06) took the first four positions. Crowley won the long jump with a distance of 16-03.25.
The Boys were strong in the pole vault with Parker Jones taking the gold at a height of 14-0. Braden Barlean took second at 13-06 and Josh Wilder finished third with a 12-06. Christian Patterson came in second in the long jump with a jump of 20-02.
Clifford Littleton (52.81) and Colby Chamblin (53.28) took fourth and fifth in the 400-meter dash and Littleton came in third on the 800 with a time of 2:02.61. Brice Koons took fourth in the 3200 with a 10:46.88 finish.
Kylan Hernandez took the top spot in the 300 hurdle with a time of 39.49, ahead of Darrius Blackshire at 39.54. Hernandez (14.83), Jones (15.26) and Blackshire (15.95) swept first through third in the 110 hurdle event.
The boys took second in all of their relays with a time of 3:31.21 in the 4x400, 44.93 in the 4x100, 8:23.34 in the 4x800 and 1:32.72 in the 4x200.
The teams will race in the regional meet next Saturday.
