SHAWNEE – Baseball America, in its list of players with the best tools from each of the professional minor leagues, named former Bison Taylor Hearn's fastball as the best in the Florida State League.

Hearn is playing for the Bradenton Marauders in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He previously was so-honored as a member of the West Virginia Power

The categories were based on a survey of baseball scouts and managers in each league.

The 12th ranked Pirates prospect has posted a 4.12 ERA with 106 strikeouts in 87.1 innings pitched (10.9 K/9). Hearn was placed on the disabled list in mid-July with a strained right oblique, and is likely done for the season.

OBU alum Julian Merryweather is 7-5 this season with a 4.42 earned run average this season. He currently pitches in Triple-A for the Cleveland Indians' affiliate the Columbus Clippers.

Former Bison Nathan Thompson has a 1.41 earned run average in 10 relief appearances for the Class A Short Season Tri-City ValleyCats in the Houston Astros farm system.

Matthew Page was assigned to extended Spring Training from the Potomac Nationals.
