DALE — Delanie Manning two-hit Stroud Friday, propelling top-ranked Dale to an 8-1 triumph over Stroud at the McLoud Tournament.
Manning whiffed six and walked two as Dale ran its record to 24-1.
By virtue of a 1-0 tournament setback to Bethel Thursday, Dale will play in today’s 4 p.m. third-place game at McLoud against an undetermined opponent.
Stroud’s only run was unearned as the result of two Dale errors in the top of the second inning.
Sydney Griggs fueled Dale’s 10-hit attack with two doubles and two runs batted in.
Mikayla Rutland posted a run-scoring triple and a single. Rylie Premo notched three singles and drove in one run. London Calvillo had two singles.
Stroud led 1-0 after two innings but Dale countered by scoring in four straight innings.
“We responded pretty well to Thursday’s loss,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “Thursday, we just got beat by a good pitcher.”
