MCLOUD – The McLoud basketball teams had sweeping success over Stroud at their Homecoming games Friday night at McLoud. The boys topped Stroud 61-59 and Homecoming queen Katelyn Hoover led the Lady Redskins in their 51-44 victory.
Hoover completed the gave with 15 points and had four 3-pointers to lead all scorers. Lexi Boyer had nine, Cheyenne Banks eight and Karlie Norwood seven.
Megan Bucktrot and Kaitlyn Hughey led Stroud with 14 points apiece and Hughey hit three treys.
Chase Mahtapene led the McLoud boys with 23 points that included five triples and was key to winning the game down the stretch.
Mahtapene hit a three with 1:31 left in the game to go up by three on Stroud and hit four free-throws down the stretch. The Redskins outscored Stroud 24-16 in the fourth.
Mahtapene led all scorers with 23 points, Garret Wilson ahd 16 and Brandon Vinson had 14.
McLoud will play Chandler at Chesapeake Energy Arena, Dec. 27. The boys are now 3-4 on the season and the girls are 2-5 after winning both games they had this week.
